FC Connectors

First developed by Hitachi in Japan, the FC connectors is a standardized fiber optic connector typically used in single mode fiber optic transmission systems. Its name “FC” stands for “Ferrule Connector”, where “Ferrule” refers to the ceramic or metal sleeve inside the connector, which is used to accurately position and protect the end face of the fiber. FC connectors are threaded and typically have a 2.5mm ceramic or stainless steel ferrule for insertion into the fiber.
