Armored Cables

Armored Cables have an additional protective layer made of steel tape or steel wire, to ensure that fiber optic cables maintain their performance and functionality over time in harsh environments. This extra layer of protection gives fiber optic cables greater durability, tensile and compression resistance for reliable operation in a variety of challenging environments.

The primary function of Armored Cables is to protect the internal structure of the fiber optic from external physical damage such as pressure, tension, bending, extrusion, and rodent bites. They are typically used in environments that require extra protection, such as outdoors, industrial locations, military applications, etc. In these environments, fiber optic cables are susceptible to mechanical damage or external interference and therefore require an additional protective layer to protect the integrity and stability of the fiber.
